DESCRIPTION: |
Two
story 4-Square/Prairie w/neo-classical details. Frame.
Composition roof. Hip roof. Prominent two story classical
portico; Corinthian columns w/triangular pediment; horizontal
cornice broken to form eaves over each of the columns;
glazed rondel w/four keystones. Deep second floor balcony.
Wraparound porch to right w/hip roof supported by Conrinthian
columns. Leaded and beveled glass in sidelights and transom
at entry. Door has natural wood finish. |

This
was the very first home built on Swiss Avenue at a cost
of $10,000. Dr. Baird, a prominent internist and founder
of the Dallas Medical and Surgical Clinic, was the first
owner. The second resident was Dr. J.B. Cranfill, who
was the original owner of the home at 5215 Swiss Avenue. |
