Two
story Spanish Mission. Smooth stucco. Gren tile roof.
Parapet roof w/visor; brackets and rafters. Recessed entry
portico w/heavy piers forming second floor porch w/parapet
and visor roof; finials on piers; flat arches support
roof and porte cochere; cut-out stonework in porch wall.
Set back on second fllor is a continuation from recessed
entry door. Geometric glazing. Full width veranda w/shed
roof continuing as visor roof on first floor of a two
story porte cochere on right. |

The house was built as a speculative home by a builder
who later became an active residential developer in
Lakewood. The home stood empty for one year and was
purchased in 1917 for $14,000 by the Browne family. It is
known in the neighborhood as –the Alamo.” The house won the 1987 Restoration House of the Year Award. (Dallas/Fort Worth Home and Garden, July 1987, p8). |
